National Party condemned in-custody murders of Baluch activists

As Pakistan killed and dumped five more Baluch political activists while in their custody, Monday, Baluchistan’s political parties, including the National Party condemned the action in strongest terms.

The five youth named as Ayyub, Hafiz, Morteza, Zarif and Sharif were arrested earlier in April by Pakistani armed forces from different localities. The bodies bore sever torture marks and fresh bullet wounds. All five were members of pro-independent political organisations.

The National Party spokesperson said in its statement -published in daily Tawar –urdu –that a certain authoritarian force in Islamabad is engaged in a conspiracy against Baluchistan. “The group is trying to solve a political situation with force rather than through politics” the NP said.

“What the elements in the establishment are trying will have catastrophic results” the NP’s spokesperson added.

The statement further said “nowhere in the world such a thing happens that you arrest political activists, torture them severely while in custody, then kill and dumped their bodies. Such actions are at odds to international laws.”

Mengal Party also deplored the in-custody murder of the five youth and said it was a plan to deter them from political engagement, however, they would continue struggle for the right of self-determination.

The NP requested the international justice authorities and human rights organisations to voice against such injustices. It also urged the NP workers to raise their voices against the state terrorism and counter the conspiracies against Baluch nation.
