A Pakistani court has freed a US citizen after acquitting him of two counts of murder at a hearing held at a prison in Lahore, officials say. The acquital came after the relatives of the dead men pardoned him.
Raymond Davis, 36, was alleged to have shot dead two men in the eastern city of Lahore in January following what he said was an attempted armed robbery.
According to a Pakistani newspaper, the relatives of dead Pakistani's were paid 21 million Pakistani Rupees in total and four relatives of each dead man were guaranteed US citizenship, before the pardon was granted.
